Why book a driven wild boar hunt in France
A driven wild boar hunt in France is continental shooting in its most concentrated form. Guns sit on numbered raised high seats, hound packs work the block, and the shooting is at running boar, at short range, with very little time to decide. For a British or Nordic team used to driven birds, the discipline is familiar and the game is not. For a German team, the format sits close to a Drückjagd, run on ground held for that purpose alone.
What makes this ground different is scale and restraint. Five hundred hectares of fully fenced lowland, managed for driven hunting only, and two teams a season. What a team gets on this driven boar hunt
This is a team product, from start to finish. Seven to twelve Guns, two driven days, two nights on the estate, and nobody else on the ground. The team eats together, sleeps in the same buildings and is briefed together, which matters more than it sounds on a driven day: seat discipline and shooting angles are only reliable when everyone has heard the same briefing from the same person.
The bag is set by the ground rather than by a price list. Three wild boar per Gun per day, no size limit, no trophy fee on the boar, and cull mouflon and red deer included. Trophy males are the only animals that carry a fee. A team of ten Guns therefore arrives with a realistic expectation of volume, and leaves with venison, without anyone having to weigh a decision against a tariff at the moment of the shot.
Driven wild boar shooting in France, explained
Wild boar on a driven day do not behave like deer. They come fast, low and often in groups, they use cover to the last metre, and they change direction on the sound of a hound rather than on the sight of a Gun. Shots are taken at a moving animal, frequently inside 50 metres, and the safe window is narrow because the seats are placed to cover marked lanes and nothing else.
Two things separate the Guns who shoot well here from those who do not. The first is the running boar range on arrival day, 50 metres, with camera controlled shot review, which shows exactly how far behind the animal you are shooting. The second is honesty about calibre and optics: a low magnification setting, a rifle you can swing, and a decision made before the boar enters the lane. Semi automatic rifles are permitted within French legal limits, which suits this kind of shooting.

The estate lies in the south of France, 1 hour 15 by road from Toulouse Blagnac, in a landscape of low wooded blocks, stone walls, old olive trees and farmland. Wild boar have expanded steadily across this part of the country over the last decades, and driven hunting is the working tool used to keep numbers in check and limit crop damage. Teams of Guns, beaters and hounds are out through the whole winter across the region.
That context explains why the format exists at all, and why the estate can run it at this density. The population is managed rather than displayed, there is no formal tableau at the end of the day for ethical and reputational reasons, and the game goes through the estate butchers rather than into a photograph. Hunting method
Driven hunting from numbered raised high seats. Hound packs are released at the signal and push wild boar, mouflon and red deer towards the line. Shooting is fast, at running game, often at short range. Semi automatic rifles are permitted within French legal limits. Guns hunting the continent for the first time are placed on seats that match their experience.
Accommodation
All accommodation is on the estate, so there is no transfer between dinner and the morning briefing. Twelve ensuite bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, usable in single or double occupancy, plus an indoor pool. A second traditional stone building holds the bar and the dining room. All meals are taken on site, with table wine in moderation.

Entry formalities
Toulouse Blagnac (TLS) is the airport of reference, 1 hour 15 from the estate by road. Airport transfers are not included and are arranged on request; a rental car is needed if no transfer is booked. The French temporary hunting licence and hunting insurance are included in the package. Temporary import formalities for your own rifle are prepared in advance, and estate rifles can be rented with ammunition charged extra.
Climate and season
Driven hunting on this ground runs in winter, when the hounds work best and the boar hold in the blocks. Expect cold mornings, wet ground and long static periods on the seat. Bring warm layers, waterproof boots and gloves you can shoot in.

No. This hunt is sold to full teams of 7 to 12 Guns only, because the drives, the seat allocation and the hound work are organised around one team on the ground. Individual places are not sold, and teams are not mixed. If you are looking for a place as a single Gun, ask us about our other driven options.
Yes. Temporary import formalities are prepared in advance and the French temporary hunting licence is ready on arrival, included in the package. Estate rifles can also be rented on site, with ammunition charged separately. Semi automatic rifles are permitted within French legal limits, which is not the case in every European country.
A wounded animal showing blood is counted as taken. Blood tracking dogs are on standby after every drive and will be put on the line, but the animal counts against your bag whether or not it is recovered, and the trophy fee is due if it was a trophy animal. This is standard practice on continental driven hunts.
The 500 hectares are fully fenced and managed for driven hunting, with active population management across the season. The bag is not guaranteed. Wild boar are called the black beast in France for good reason: the result depends on conditions, on the work of the hounds and on the drives themselves.
