A monteria and duck combo in France answers a problem most itineraries force on you, choosing between big game and wingshooting on the same trip. This stay puts the two side by side, a full driven day with hound packs on a 600 hectare estate, then a full day of high driven mallard at a partner estate an hour and a half away. Very few packages in France run both inside one stay, and the reason is logistical rather than commercial. It takes two properties, two sets of permissions and two entirely different teams working to the same calendar. On the estate near Toulouse, Guns are placed in numbered high seats across a block after a briefing on safe arcs of fire and on species identification, which on this ground covers wild boar, mouflon and red deer moving in the same drive. The packs are then released and work the block, pushing game steadily toward the line. One or two drives are run depending on conditions, and the active part of the day typically runs four to five hours. The shooting is offhand at moving animals, often quartering and often through cover, which is why the arrival day on the range is not a formality. Between drives the retrieving dogs work the falls while a drink and something to eat come round the peg line, and the session of three to four hours closes with lunch at the lodge. The partner estate sits around ninety minutes from the main lodge, so the duck day is a genuine excursion rather than a walk out of the door, and the transfer is built into the timing. Cartridge consumption on high birds runs heavier than most Guns expect, and gun fit and choke matter more here than on a decoyed duck. Planning for a second gun or a rental is a question worth raising at the enquiry stage rather than the night before the drive.

Monteria, Guns placed in numbered high seats and briefed on safe arcs and species identification, then multiple hound packs work the block. Offhand shooting at moving animals. Accommodation
Main lodge with 8 en-suite twin or double bedrooms with private bathrooms, bar and restaurant room with open bar service, indoor pool. Two cottages, 3 and 4 bedrooms, for larger groups, all on the estate. All meals and drinks included throughout.

Temporary French hunting licence handled by the agency, valid up to 3 days, included in the package. Shotgun rental included, rifle rental at 50 € per day plus ammunition. For the monteria, a rifle you can shoot offhand at moving game with a low magnification or 1x optic is the sensible choice, and the arrival day on the range is there to confirm it. For the duck day, a heavier cartridge and a more open choke than a decoyed duck would need. Hunters bringing their own guns are briefed on the import file in advance.

Cull females and young animals are included in the package price on the monteria day. The fees above apply to trophy males only. Wounding policy, if an animal is wounded and a deadly wound is confirmed by evidence, the full trophy fee is due and is not refundable whatever the recovery outcome.

When to go.
The combo runs from October to February, season 2026 2027. Both disciplines depend on the same window, the monteria on cool weather that keeps the hounds working and the game moving, the duck day on the autumn and winter presence of mallard on the partner estate.

Three to five shooting opportunities per Gun is a realistic figure for an experienced shooter, and it is an expectation rather than a guarantee. The animals are hunted under wild conditions in cover, and a drive that produces nothing on one line can produce heavily on the next.
One male wild boar per Gun is included, along with cull females and young mouflon and red deer. Trophy males, tusker boar, mouflon ram and red deer stag, are charged on the trophy fee table, quoted excluding VAT at 20%.
The allowance is 50 ducks per Gun and it can be pooled across the group, so a party is not penalised because one peg was quiet. Birds above the allowance are charged at 20 € per duck.
Shotgun rental is included in the package, and rifle rental is available at 50 € per day plus ammunition. Guns who prefer their own firearms are guided through the temporary import file before departure.
It is built for experienced Guns. The monteria day is offhand shooting at moving animals through cover, and the duck day is high fast birds. A shooter who has not fired offhand at a moving target should use the arrival day on the range seriously.
Yes, an observer is 750 € for the trip in a shared room. The lodge has an indoor pool, a bar and a restaurant, and Toulouse is 100 km away for a day out.
A minimum of 200 € per Gun is recommended, covering the beaters, the kitchen, cleaning, the blood trackers and the butchers. It is not included in the package price.
