The Hunt at a Glance

This is free range stalking, not a fenced estate. The roe bucks live and move freely across open mixed countryside, so every encounter is read from the animal, never from a perimeter. Our guides have scouted the territory since spring. They know the individual bucks, the feeding routes and where the rut will fire, and they take one hunter at a time for full attention from first light to last.

Univers Chasse Pêche has organised guided hunting trips for over 30 years. We are a travel agency licensed by Atout France (n°031950034), a member of APST for financial guarantee, and fully insured. The French hunting licence and every administrative formality are handled on our end, so you arrive ready to hunt.

Your Hunting Itinerary

Packages run over 2, 3 or 4 hunting days, built around your schedule and your trophy goals.

• Day 1: Arrival at Toulouse-Blagnac, transfer to accommodation, briefing with your guide on terrain, quarry and safety, then evening outing.
• Day 2: Morning outing from first light, rest through the heat of the day, evening outing until dark.
• Day 3: Morning outing, then departure after breakfast, or continuation if a second buck is planned.
• Day 4 (optional): Additional hunting day on request.

How We Hunt: Stalking, the Rut and the Daily Rhythm

The method is spot and stalk on foot. The summer heat sets the rhythm. We hunt two outings a day, morning along field margins and crop edges where bucks feed before the heat builds, evening in orchard blocks and forest shade as the animals push into open ground at dusk. This transition is where the guide’s knowledge of individual animals matters most, knowing which buck emerges from which tree line, and when.

The rut, known in German hunting culture as the Blattzeit, runs from roughly the last week of July through mid-August. It is the most productive window for a trophy class buck, when old animals that stay invisible most of the year become exposed and temporarily less cautious. During the rut our guides use roe calls to draw bucks into range, reading wind, temperature and individual behaviour before they call.

• Season: 1 June to mid-August. Rut from late July to mid-August.
• Duration: 2, 3 or 4 hunting days.
• Base: South of France, around one hour from Toulouse-Blagnac Airport (TLS).
• Method: spot and stalk, 1:1, two outings per day.

Accommodation and Family Travel

We book our hunters into a carefully selected local hotel with comfortable rooms, regional cuisine and local wines. Parties travelling with family or a non-hunting partner can opt for a character cottage rental, giving the group a private base for non-hunting days. While the hunter is out at dawn, a partner can spend the day in Toulouse, Albi, Carcassonne, Cathar country or the Pyrenean foothills. The afternoon rest between outings fits naturally into a holiday rhythm.

Wounding Policy

If an animal is wounded and evidence of a lethal wound is established, the full 500€ trophy fee is due and non-refundable.
